Composer Rights & Recognition

At The Notation Pad, we transcribe music by ear to help performers bring your songs to life at weddings and events.

We’ve reached out to many leading composers and artists in the Jewish music world. If you’re a composer and see your work on our site and we haven’t spoken yet — feel free to get in touch.

We’re always happy to discuss proper credit, royalties, or any arrangement you feel is appropriate. Our goal is to respect the creativity behind the music while helping musicians perform it beautifully.

What’s the Difference Between a Lead Sheet and a 2liner?

Lead Sheets are built for speed, clarity, and flexibility. They’re ideal for musicians who don’t need a full score but want a clean top-line chart they can rely on during gigs.

  • Melody line
  • Chord symbols above the staff
  • No fluff — just the essentials

When to use a Lead Sheet:

  • One-man band gigs
  • Kumzitz or acoustic sets
  • Learning new songs fast
  • Solo playing or with minimal backup
  • Just-for-fun playing at home or events

Lead sheets keep things light and adaptable — perfect when flexibility matters.

2liners are two-staff charts built for live performance. They include everything in a lead sheet — plus extra musical structure for a more polished sound.

What’s in a 2liner:

  • Top staff: Melody + chords
  • Bottom staff: Horn lines or rhythmic fills

When 2liners really shine:

  • One-man bands playing with horns
  • Groups who want to stay in sync
  • Musicians who don’t have time to rehearse
  • Gigs that need structure, polish, and flow

Best for: Dance sets, chuppahs with live horns, structured background music at weddings, or kumzitz sets that need more than just melody.

At The Notation Pad, our 2liners are written by working wedding musicians, cleanly formatted, updated weekly, and available by request. They’re designed to help you walk in, open the chart, and sound like you’ve rehearsed — even if you haven’t.
